SPRING 2025

MONDAYS

LEGO® SPIKE™ Essential Robotics: Quirky Creations (K-2nd): In this robotics program, children become game designers, creating their own carnival-style robotics games using Scratch coding and LEGO® SPIKE™ robotic kits. From battling the automated hockey goalkeeper with their partner,  to programming a personalized pinball machine, each class is a new venture into the art of fun and games. As the teams build and code, they strengthen their understanding of sequences, cause and effect, and problem-solving, all while preparing their creations for the ultimate carnival showdown.

 

Digital Art & Illustration (3rd-5th): Introduce your child to the exciting world of graphic design and digital art! Our young learners will explore the fundamentals of design, color theory, typography, and basic photo editing, while cultivating their creativity and artistic expression.

Watch as they unlock their creative potential, gain valuable digital art skills, and proudly showcase their projects! Give your child the opportunity to embark on a creative journey that will spark their imagination and foster a lifelong love for design.

 

Ultimate Dance Fitness (K-5th): Kids in Motion students will dance, jump, run, and play the whole hour! Kids follow along with the teacher to songs and dances, play games that include limbo sticks, balloons, freeze dance, dancing 4 corners, dancing hot potato, follow the leader, and more! This is a dance fitness class using kid friendly songs, choreography, and dance games. This class helps children make friends, get active after school, and love dance fitness!

 

Decorating Sweets (K-5th): Decorating Sweets is a creative art with food class. We can't think of anything more fun than decorating sweets. We will provide an assortment of ideas and edible decorations to let both taste and imagination run wild! This is a great opportunity to learn how to decorate cupcakes, cake pops, cake bites, with fondant, gum paste and chocolate. Each session is completely different from the previous one so our students will have fun regardless of how many times they take this class.



TUESDAYS

Bakers & Makers (K-5th): Bakers and Makers is a class for those that like to create! The sessions will teach your children the basics in sewing, baking, and creating home crafts, and students will be able to taste or take home their own creations. They will build or bake, draw or make and let their imagination soar in these hour-long sessions.

 

Chess (K-5th): Learn chess with Silver Knights Chess Academy (formerly Magnus Chess Academy), world champion Magnus Carlsen’s academy!  We’ve taught 100,000 children to play including state and national champions, but most students are beginners looking to learn a new skill and have FUN. Class time is divided between lessons and practice games.  Lessons range from the basic rules to advanced tournament strategies.

Students will have the opportunity to play in tournaments (in-person and online) outside of club time.  This in-person club includes free online extras including weekly practice tournaments and an event with world champion Magnus Carlsen or Judit Polgar, the best female chess player of all time.  All chess supplies provided. Beginner Karate (K-5th): This class is offered by a Kent Gardens Elementary school mom who is an international Certified black belt Instructor!! This class is designed for all belt levels ages 5–11. Students learn the basic levels of martial arts while participating in a fun, exciting atmosphere. Class is tailored to student’s individual needs and helps them grow to their fullest potential. Karate classes not only focus on instruction, but also learning valuable lessons related to discipline, motivation, self-control, and continual improvement. No previous training is required! 

The activities included: Basic self-defense skills, traditional karate forms known as Kata, tumbling skills/agility, a variety of Martial Arts activities, exciting/fun games, leadership training, board breaking, performance & awards (Trophies)!!! Character development, respect and self-control are promoted during the training to help students cope with life pressures. 

The instructor for this class is a highly qualified Black Belt with international Instructor certification through the IWKA and Penn State Karate. The Instructor for this class - Sensei Mami Gebereegziabher - Renshigo 5th Degree Black belt

Martial Art uniforms are included in the cost of the class!

 

Art Studio: Welcome Spring! (K-3rd): Students will explore visual art by studying the world around them, the work of authors, artists and illustrators, by experimenting with a variety of mediums and by investigating different art concepts. The primary goal is to have fun while creating and exploring!

We will have all new projects for Spring 2025.





WEDNESDAYS

Spy Science: Crime Scene Investigators (K-5th): How do detectives and investigators use science to solve a mystery? We will spend this program understanding forensic science and learning the tricks of the spy trade. We'll investigate fingerprints, spying techniques (surveillance), secret codes, invisible ink, and other sneaky science!

 

Run Club (K-5th): Is your child ready to burn off some steam & have some fun? Join this co-ed running club where your child will have the chance to meet new friends, have a team building experience, move their bodies with fun running activities such as relays, speed, agility & quickness, & pacing all packed into an hour of movement, character building, and team fun. We will be building our cardiovascular system and muscles.

 

Beginner Ensemble: Piano, Guitar, Violin, Drums (K-5th): Students will participate in an ensemble music group.  They may choose which instrument to play during the session – piano, drum, violin or guitar.  Students will learn about the instruments as well as how to play in a music group.   

FREE Rental instrument and curriculum included!  Instruments and music are intended for in class AND at home practice.  Rental Instrument must be returned at the last class.

 

Art: Modern Masters (3rd-5th)

Students will learn the fundamentals of Art while exploring the work of 20th and 21st century master artists. Students will be introduced to various modern masters of art, like Warhol, Matisse, Picasso, Van Gogh, Kusama, Pollock, O’Keeffe, and Klee, and applying techniques and styles found in their works to create their own unique artworks.




THURSDAYS

Ultimate Frisbee (2nd-5th): Non-stop fun in this totally awesome program! In this super active program, players will learn the basics of Ultimate Frisbee. Each day will end with full games, but will begin with lead-up games and skill building to help them hone their skills of throwing, catching, and running. Players will also learn that ultimate is a game where kids referee themselves! They will share strategies, learn how to make their own calls fairly, and work with teammates to make the most out of every play. This program is open to players of all different skill levels and is guaranteed to be a blast!

 

Minecraft: Creative Building (K-5th): Spawn into a world of endless possibilities! Join us for a fun-filled Minecraft adventure where your child will learn to build, design, and engineer their way to endless creativity. In this class, your child will learn essential Minecraft/Gaming skills, including building techniques, spatial reasoning, block physics, and a taste of redstone engineering! Children will have a blast building their dream home, creating 2D art, cobblestone towers using lava, animal farms and more! This class is fun for children of all levels, from beginners to experienced Minecraft players. No device needed! Join us and let your child's imagination soar!

 

My First Lemonade Stand (K-2nd): Let’s sell lemonade! Join us for this fun class, where you will learn how to make yummy lemonade and how to earn money selling it! These fun sessions will empower students with an entrepreneurial mindset for their lemonade stand. Students will learn about marketing, finance and strategy in a supporting environment fostering teamwork. From designing marketing flyers to estimating profits to experimenting with recipes, students have fun while developing business savvy. As a showcase event, students launch their lemonade stand in the spring and donate profits to a charity they select!

 

Pottery: Contemporary Art (K-5th): Join us this Spring as we explore the exciting world of Contemporary Art! Learn about how these famous artists changed the world of art by coloring outside the lines. In this class you’ll create pinch pots, coil pots and slab hand built pottery from start to finish. You’ll even get a chance to glaze your own pottery. Our materials are professional grade stoneware and get fired in our kiln making the pieces both beautiful and functional! Ready to explore?
